Having David Morrissey on Doctor Who counts as another answer to prayer for me. Shame he's not 11.

December can't come soon enough!

Lovin' the Steampunk Who Worldview
I just returned from a gaming convention in the states called GenCon. The theme of the con this year was steampunk so without even thinking about a costume at all I chose to be an Edwardian member of Torchwood.

While there I had a chance to play in a new Doctor Who role playing game produced by a company whose other game is called Victoriana, a mid-nineteenth century fantasy game set at the height of the Empire. While looking for their site I have found yours.

The images of the steampunk Daleks have been wandering the net for a few weeks now and every time I saw one I thought, "Ah, that is a reverse engineered Dalek from Torchwood." The idea that they might be from an alternate universe Doctor Who is equally interesting. Although, come to think of it, couldn't simply be the first Doctor? How long was he on Earth before 1963 anyway?

yeah, i know Gencon, it is an international RP convention, we have our own version here in the uk, as well as in mainland Europe.

i also know of victoriana, one of the writers lives locally.

Steam punk daleks have been around the net for at least 2 years, and the concept of an alternative steampunky dr who world.

in a way though you may be right about the first doctor, because no one is really sure about when he "first" arrived, suffice to say he has been at most points in earth's history at one time or another.

the concept of this though is that things happened very slightly differently, and the doctor brought the rift with him, meaning the master becomes akin to the red death, you have aliens in the guises of Victorian urban legends (like spring heeled jack and the phantom coach) and the industrial revolution advances differently.

Very Interesting

I have a theory that the reason the Doctor is so connected to Earth in the first place may have something to do with the origin of the Gallifreyans. I like the spring heeled jack, phantom coach etc though. I only had a moment to speak with the designer of Victoriana and never had a chance to play with him. I did play the Doctor Who RPG.
